Welcome back to Silver Wishes!!!
Thinking about it carefully. One need understand, that we are all customers of one another. As such, we have reasonable expectation that during our interaction with one another, the details of that interaction, will be kept private. Unless of course, we, by agreement, choose for it to be shared with others. Privacy is what we expect to have, regarding someone unnecessarily prying, monitoring, or sharing, parts of our lives, or personal information, with others, without our consent.
Dictionary.com definition of privacy, definition number three, states, privacy is, "freedom from publicity, public scrutiny, secret surveillance, or unauthorized disclosure of ones personal data or information, as by a government, corporation, or individual."
In this day and age, it pays to be mindful of what we do, and what is done, with our personal information after we share it. Often, it is misunderstood what is meant by "Sharing information". For example, When we make a purchase from a website, app, or physical store, and use a credit card, debit card, or personal check, we are actively sharing our personal information with the entity that we chose to do business with. Once we have shared our personal information with that entity, they, must then share our personal information with others, in order to complete that transaction.
For example: You "authorize" or give permission to share your credit card number with a store of your choice, when you present it for a transaction. The store must then share your information with the credit card processor, who then must share it with the cards issuing bank, who then shares it with the merchants capturing bank, all the while, in the back ground, it is being shared through the payment gateway. All of this "sharing" must occur in seconds in order for you to complete your purchase in a timely manner.
When you shared this credit card information, you also shared other personal details about yourself in the background with all of these entities. For example: When you shared your credit card number, you also shared your name, your address, your phone number, perhaps your work address and phone number, as well as your email address. You shared information about where you have just shopped, and what you may have bought or returned that day. All of these details are shared during the processing of your credit card transaction. These details are shared between all of these parties in order to verify that you are who you say you are. You live where you say you live. You agree to pay the issuing card at a later date, for the transaction you have made today. You are the party that authorized this transaction etc..
